LUNACY PRODUCTIONS, IN COLLABORATION WITH RLJE FILMS, TO RELEASE
2019 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL AWARD-WINNING PLUS ONE NATIONWIDE JUNE 14
A romantic comedy starring Maya Erskine and Jack Quaid, and
written and directed by Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer, opens everywhere next Friday, including Louisville’s Village 8 Theaters
Louisville, KY- Kentucky based-producer Stu Pollard’s Lunacy Productions is excited to announce the nationwide release of the romantic comedy Plus One, which took home the Narrative Audience Award at the 18th Tribeca Film Festival Awards last month in New York.
Plus One is the story of long-time friends Alice and Ben, who find themselves in that inevitable year that all late 20-somethings experience: seemingly every person they know is getting married and agree to be one another’s “plus one” as they power through an endless parade of weddings.
Written and directed by Jeff Chan (Adam Ruins Everything) and Andrew Rhymer (Pregame), the film stars Maya Erskine (Hulu’s PEN15, Casual and Insecure), and Jack Quaid (Amazon’s The Boys, Rampage, Logan Lucky), along with Ed Begley, Jr. (Arrested Development), Beck Bennett (Saturday Night Live), Rosalind Chao (Mulan), Brianne Howey (The Passage), Jon Bass (Miracle Workers) and Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story).
The film will open nationwide on Friday, June 14, in theaters as well as on digital platforms. Among the theaters the film will play will be Louisville’s own Village 8. Tickets are on sale now. There’s also a special Louisville premiere screening at the Baxter Avenue Theaters on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30pm. Pollard will be on hand for a Q&A after the show and a few tickets are still available via the Baxter’s website.
Plus One is produced by Ross Putman (First Girl I Loved), Jeremy Reitz (PEN15), Deborah Liebling (South Park, PEN15), Greg Beauchamp (Zion), along with Chan and Rhymer. Ben Stiller executive produces through his Red Hour Films banner with Nicholas Weinstock and Jackie Cohn; Michael Schreiber and Dan Weinstein executive produce for Studio71; Lunacy Productions' Stu Pollard and Harris McCabe also executive produce and have played in integral role in developing the film since 2015.
“This film is a true crowd pleaser. Everyone can relate to it. I think it has the potential to become this generation’s When Harry Met Sally,” says Stu Pollard. “This is a witty and wry look at how today’s young adults react to their friends tying the know. Maya and Jack have fabulous on-screen chemistry, and we hope the film leads to big things for them as well as our superbly talented writer-directors Andrew and Jeff.”
Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer for RLJE Films, states “We’re excited to be releasing Plus One just in time for the wedding season. With rising stars Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine leading the hilarious cast, we know audiences will fall in love with this film.”
