Denver Broncos Guard Ron Leary's Annual ELITE Youth Football Camp returns to Baton Rouge June 1

Former Southern Lab Lineman and Denver Broncos Guard Ron Leary's Annual ELITE Youth Football Camp returns to Baton Rouge June 1

A FREE one-day camp providing youth with football fundamentals

Baton Rouge, LA – Former Southern Lab lineman and Denver Broncos guard Ron Leary returns to Baton Rouge to host the Ron Leary REACH Foundation’s third annual ELITE Youth Football Camp for children ages 6-16. The event will be held at Southern University’s Ace W. Mumford Stadium on June 1 from 9a.m. - 1p.m.

Supported by a grant from the NFL Foundation, this one-day free event will introduce children to football by teaching them basic fundamental skills and techniques. Participants will receive hands-on instructions where they will partake in a series of drills to learn passing, catching and running skills in a non-contact setting. All skills and drills selected are based on USA Football's Player's Progressive Development Model, ensuring children are learning in an age-appropriate manner, based on their cognitive and physical maturity.

Lunch for all attendees will be provided by Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers.

The Ron Leary REACH Foundation’s mission is to reach the youth in underserved and fiscally challenged communities by promoting the core values of work ethic, discipline, determination leadership and integrity in academics, athletics and life.

“Our goal is to create a safe environment where every child, regardless of their race, sex or socioeconomic background, has access to proper tools, mentors and role models needed to obtain their dreams,” says Ron Leary.

Leary's story is quite unique; he began playing football during his junior year at Southern University Lab High School, where he earned All-State and All-District honors. While on scholarship at the University of Memphis, he played 44 games, with 36 starts, at left tackle and right guard, earning second-team All Conference USA honors as a senior. He would go on to sign as a undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2012 and would later find a home with the Denver Broncos in 2017.

Registration is still open for the ELITE Youth Football Camp; and participants are encourage to register online at www.ronlearyreach.org. Community partners and sponsors include Athletic Marketing, the NFL Foundation, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Southern University and USA Football.
