Greece saw its visitor numbers rise by 19% from January to August last year, according to World Travel Monitor, a global analysis of travel trends released by ITB Berlin and IPK International. ABTA’s Trends 2019 report also suggests that Greece will be a popular holiday destination this year – it says that bookings to Greece for Summer 2019 have increased by 6%. Therefore, Greece might also see an uplift in people planning a sunny wedding or hot honeymoon.
Travel brand Insight Guides has released an updated version of its Greece travel guide, complete with a free eBook and app. The book encourages venturing off-the-beaten track so that honeymooners can have an romantic experience away from hordes of tourist.
With the International Monetary Fund saying it’s optimistic about Greece’s growth prospects for 2019 and television programmes like ITV’s ‘The Durrells’ showcasing the beauty of the Greek island of Corfu, Insight Guides anticipates a good year for the Greek wedding industry.
Tatiana Wilde, editor of Insight Guides Greece, says,
“Greece has long been known as a beautiful place to get married or have a honeymoon, and this trend doesn’t look set to stop any time soon. The new Insight Guides will make planning a honeymoon to Greece easier – it contains useful travel advice and tips on the best places to visit, whether newlyweds want a relaxing time on the beach or a more activity-packed adventure.”
