ORANGE, CALIF. / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 30, 2022 / 360Civic, a leader in online privacy protection for judges and police officers for more than a decade, has announced it is offering 90 days of free online privacy protection for anyone impacted by the recent accidental disclosure of private information by the California Department of Justice (DOJ).
This breach revealed the personal information of individuals who were granted or denied a concealed and carry weapons (CCW) permit between 2011-2021. Information exposed included names, addresses, dates of birth, gender, race, driver’s license numbers, and criminal histories.
“This is a dangerous situation, certainly for judges and families of police officers but also for anyone who does not want their home address easily accessible online,” said 360Civic CEO Ron Zayas. “If you believe you have been impacted by this leak, or have already received notification from the DOJ that your privacy has been compromised, we are ready to help at no cost.”
Using the proprietary software of its IronWall360 service, 360Civic scans the internet for any sites where the subscriber’s home address, phone number and other private data are accessible. The company then contacts that site to have the content removed.
“As a result of this leak, we anticipate the personal information of thousands of people has already become easy to find and exploit, which could result in harassment, vandalism and even violence,” Zayas added. “It’s important to take action as quickly as possible to prevent your information from spreading any further. If your home address and other identifying data are posted anywhere, including on social media as has been reported, we’ll find it and have it removed, or pursue legal action until it is done.”
Anyone affected by this data breach can register here to have their private data located and removed online free for 90 days. If you are affiliated with a court and wish to request this service for all of the judges in your county/jurisdiction, please use this link.
360Civic also advises anyone impacted by this leak to monitor their credit scores, place a fraud alert on their credit reports, and be alert to the possibility of becoming a victim of identity theft.
