Accountant to Take on Virtual London Marathon for Gravesend Charity, Family Matters
UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 28, 2020 / An accountant from Perrys Chartered Accountants will be taking on the virtual ‘London’ Marathon to raise funds for Gravesend-based charity, Family Matters.
Alex Skinner, who is a consultant at the practice, and lives in Rainham, will be participating in a London Marathon like no other on 4 October.
Following two cancellations, 45,000 registered runners will instead take part by running a marathon in their own way. Alex has chosen to take on the 26.2 mile race by following a route through his local towns and villages in the Medway area.
Perrys has been supporting Family Matters since 2016 and has already raised more than £25,000 through a series of fundraising activities. The charity offers support services, including free one to one counselling sessions, to those who have been affected by sexual abuse or rape. It serves 14 boroughs in the county and currently needs to raise £300,000 per year to keep operating.
A keen runner, Alex has also completed the Brighton Marathon and is hoping to finish the virtual London Marathon in under four hours. He said:
“I know it’s going to be a really tough challenge, but also very exciting. I managed to complete the Brighton Marathon in exactly four hours so I’m hoping to try to equal this if possible.”
