Afrikana Manchester Launches Free Freshers Feast: 1,000 Free Meals Up for Grabs

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 18, 2025 / Freshers Week is about to get even tastier as Afrikana Manchester announces a new campaign to welcome students into the city with style, flavour, and unbeatable vibes. From 22nd – 26th September, the popular Wilmslow Road restaurant is giving away 1,000 free meals to students as part of its Free Freshers Feast celebration.

University and college students can claim a free meal by showing their valid student ID at the restaurant. With dishes ranging from the indulgent Thic Chick Burger and hearty Knockout Box, to crowd favourites like That’s a Wrap, 5x Wings, and ¼ Chicken with fries, it’s a chance for students to fuel up on flavour. Once the 1,000 meals are gone, they’re gone – so arriving early is strongly advised!

Afrikana Manchester is more than just a restaurant: it’s becoming the go-to hub for students who want quality food, great value, and a welcoming community atmosphere.

“Freshers Week is an exciting time to make memories, meeting people, and discovering new places – and we want Afrikana to be part of that journey for students in Manchester,” said Lawrence Ogunleye, Sous Chef at Afrikana Manchester.

“Our Free Freshers Feast is our way of saying welcome to the city. We know budgets can be tight, so we’re giving students a chance to experience Afrikana, enjoy some great food, and hopefully keep coming back throughout the year!”

As if free meals weren’t enough, Afrikana Manchester is also launching its first ever Student Night on Thursday 2nd October. Promising unforgettable evenings of music, food, and fun, the restaurant is transforming into a nightlife hotspot!

The debut night will be an Afrobeats-themed party featuring a live DJ, setting the tone for a calendar of weekly events that rotate between Afrobeats, R&B, chart hits, and throwback classics. Students can expect themed nights, non-alcoholic mocktails, and the perfect atmosphere for dancing, chilling with friends, or kick-starting the weekend early.

Tickets are priced at just £12, including £8 off the food bill, making it one of the best-value nights in town. Doors open at 7pm, with DJs spinning from 7:30pm until late. All food served at Afrikana is 100% halal, so that no one is left out!

This is just the latest addition to a range of Afrikana Manchester's student-friendly offers, which include Student Thursdays - offering students a burger, wrap, rice box, ¼ chicken or 5 wings for just £5, with fries and a drink available for £3 - and a 15% Student Discount valid Monday to Friday across the main menu with a student ID.

Combining authentic Africa-inspired dishes, a lively setting, and a genuine commitment to student life, the restaurant is ready to redefine Freshers Week one flavour-packed bite at a time!
