NEWARK, NJ / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 07, 2022 / Akil Khalfani is energizing voters in New Jersey’s Congressional 10^th District. Low voter turnout in the Municipal elections in 2022 is evidence that people are disenfranchised, disconnected, and fed-up with the current leadership and politics.

Akil Khalfani launched his campaign for the 10^th Congressional District of New Jersey in November and is now in the final push with an endorsement from NJPHIPAC. The 10th congressional District is a mixed urban-suburban district and consists of portions of Essex, Hudson, and Union counties, including Newark and Jersey City. Akil is a fair, evenhanded, progressive leader for positive change.

The primary is June 7^th, and voters are poised to vote for a new Congressman; the seasoned Scholar and Community Advocate, Akil Khalfani.

As the former director of the Urban Issues Institute, Akil has a great understanding of the political process and is a consensus builder. He knows the people are tired of the current climate in Washington. In Congress, he will bring a commonsense approach to politics. Akil wants to bring transparency, accountability, accessibility, and efficiency to the federal government.

The three pillars of his campaign are the Economy, Recovery, and Equality. Through which he has been active in the community by working on homeless issues, community outreach, and equality through education. Akil earned his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania and has been a professor and director at Essex County College for 16 years.

He served on various boards specializing in consensus building for various community efforts, such as the Newark/Essex Coalition to End Homelessness. In Washington, he will represent the needs, values, and goals of the 10^th District of New Jersey and the people of the United States.

Akil stated, “We need someone to represent us who has a progressive agenda for positive change. The residents of the 10th District are not satisfied with the status quo, and neither am I.” He continued, “We must step outside our comfort zones to create spaces for courageous and possibly difficult conversations about the path forward for all Americans. This means we need leadership that can work across party lines to solve the challenges voiced by the People.”

If voters ask themselves if they feel heard, the likely answer is no. Akil strives to change their answer. He will work to address inflation, the perilous rise in gas prices, improving education, and economic instability, and healthcare, while also focusing on government transparency, efficiency, infrastructure improvement, union protections, and JOBS. These issues matter to the 10^th District and all Americans.
