Anaheim Ducks to Host 12th Annual Holiday Shopping Spree for Youth From Low-Income Communities

STA. ANA, CA / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 02, 2019 / WHAT:

Students from The Wooden Floor, one of the nation’s foremost creative youth development nonprofits for children from low-income communities, will receive an once-in-a-lifetime holiday gift of a Target shopping spree with famed Anaheim Ducks players, hosted at Target Irvine Spectrum by the Anaheim Ducks. Each child will also go home with a 40” Roku TV and wireless Bluetooth headphones from TCL® – America’s fastest-growing TV brand and naming partner of the Honda Center.

WHO:

The Wooden Floor students selected to participate are from families with extremely limited resources in order to ensure that they will have gifts for Christmas because most will go without. This shopping spree reminds our students that their community values and supports them.

WHEN:

WHERE:

This event is NOT open to the public and details are for media coverage purposes only.

Target Irvine Spectrum

900 Spectrum Center Dr.

Irvine, CA 92618-4958

WHY:

"These students come from families that are classified by HUD as extremely low-income," according to The Wooden Floor's CEO Dawn S. Reese. "This event lifts up their sense of self-worth. When they see adults taking an interest in them, especially those at the highest level of their profession like these players, it breaks the cycle of hopelessness which poverty often instills. The confidence, joy, and positive role modeling the students receive will have an impact, not only during the holidays, but beyond, helping them make tremendous strides in doing well in school, going to college, and ending the cycle of poverty permanently, which is the goal of The Wooden Floor."

With the help of long-term community and corporate partners like the Anaheim Ducks and Target, The Wooden Floor’s year-round programs yield incredible outcomes. Since 2005, 100 percent of The Wooden Floor graduates complete high school on time and immediately enroll in college—more than double the rate of their socioeconomic peers.

HOW:

In addition to the shopping spree with players, students and their families will also receive 40” Roku TVs and wireless Bluetooth headphones furnished by TCL®—America’s fastest-growing TV brand. The shopping spree is furnished by the Anaheim Ducks management and players, and supported by Target and the Irvine Spectrum. Since 2005, The Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center have been supporters of The Wooden Floor by providing both financial and in-kind support. Target has also been a supporter of The Wooden Floor since 1999.
