BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 25, 2022) — It is somehow perfect that Birmingham’s The Anvil Pub & Grill will celebrate its second anniversary as temperatures warm and the city marks the long-awaited arrival of spring. The upscale modern pub with a British soul opened in 2020, just before pandemic lockdown. But neighbors in and around The Village at Lee Branch quickly sought out The Anvil’s seasonal fare with a global twist and its large, welcoming covered patio.
On Thursday, April 7 starting at 4 p.m., The Anvil culinary director Sedesh Boodram and chef de cuisine Trenton Tisdale will be manning the grills out on the patio and greeting guests to say “thank you” for supporting their culinary creation throughout two of the most challenging years ever in the hospitality industry.
“We made it, thanks to this community,” says Boodram. “We wanted to find a unique way of bringing everyone together to show our appreciation and to welcome patio season!”
Among the anniversary specials, Tisdale and Boodram will be serving are grilled oysters (both Rockefeller and with chile-lime butter), burger sliders, chorizo sliders, tikka and vegetable skewers, and crawfish.
Birmingham songwriter and artist Sarah Mason will be on the patio performing live, the pub’s traditional gin bowls will be flowing, Tito’s Handmade Vodka reps will be on hand with special anniversary craft cocktails, and Non-Fiction Coffee Company—The Anvil’s Pelham-based coffee roasters—will have a coffee cart under a tent and serving sips of its signature brews. In addition to the festive special menu, guests also may order from the pub’s regular dinner menu until 10 p.m.
