Barnardo's launches new 'Kidsmas' festive fundraising campaign

Children’s charity Barnardo’s has unveiled its exciting new ‘Kidsmas’ campaign to raise money for vulnerable children across the UK this festive season.
The charity is inviting people to host Kidsmas Parties at home, school, work and with their local community groups. Anyone can sign up for a free Kidsmas Party pack which includes party games and fun fundraising ideas.
The campaign’s mascot is the Kidsmas Snowman which represents children and families coming together to build snowmen at Christmas - in the same way Barnardo’s wants people to come together to help vulnerable children.
Supporters are also encouraged to set up a ‘Build your own Kidsmas Snowman’ online fundraising page. Through the platform, fundraisers can ask people to donate by throwing a ‘donation snowball’. The more donation snowballs are thrown, the bigger the snowman gets.
This is the first year Barnardo’s has run its Kidsmas campaign. The charity aims to scale up the activity each year with a view to Kidsmas becoming a long-running campaign.
Barnardo’s Chief Executive Javed Khan said:
“For many people Christmas is a time for family, fun and presents, but for vulnerable children across the UK this time of year is just as challenging as any other.
“It’s particularly difficult for children living in poverty, experiencing domestic abuse, dealing with mental health issues, recovering from sexual exploitation or struggling to live independently after leaving the care system.
“That’s why Barnardo’s has launched Kidsmas. This year we’re asking people to come together to raise funds to help us make sure that vulnerable children are safe, supported and cared for - at Christmas and all year round. Whether you throw a Kidsmas Party or build your own online snowman, you’ll have lots in the process!
“I encourage everybody to get into the Kidsmas spirit this year and put children at the heart of Christmas.”
