Logan’s Wish Comes True with Big O Tires $10,000
9-year-old with Acute Leukemia Will Go to Disney World
The independent owners of Big O Tires Kentuckiana have rallied to donate $10,000 to Make-A-Wish Ohio Kentucky & Indiana so Logan (last name withheld), who is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia, can have his wish of going to Walt Disney World Resort come true.
Big O Tires is constantly looking for ways to benefit children in the tri-state area.
“Families are important to each one of us, and when we can help make a child’s dream come true, our team members step up without hesitation,” said Greg Kimberlin, Big O Tires owner. “Just to see the smile on Logan’s face when he learns his very own wish will come true is going to make it all worth it because helping others is what really matters.”
Big O Tires began discussions with Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana officers just a few months ago and felt Logan’s wish was a perfect fit.
"We are so grateful that Big O Tires is joining us to create a life-changing wish for Logan, who’s battling a critical illness,” said Cassidy Hyde, Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana development officer. “Big O Tires is a wonderful community partner, and their support will make a tremendous difference.”
To celebrate, Big O Tires is inviting Logan, his family and the community to a Wish Send-off Party Tues., Sept. 10, at 5:00 p.m. at 640 Park East Blvd., New Albany, IN. The public is invited.
Despite his battles with leukemia, 9-year-old Logan is described as a happy, funny boy who is full of life. He has Down Syndrome and is super talkative around those he is comfortable with, such as his two older brothers.
Logan, 9, gets his dream wish of going to Walt Disney World.
“His heartfelt wish is to go to Walt Disney World® to see the castle and fireworks,” said Hyde. “This wish experience will give Logan the opportunity to escape from his difficult medical routines for a while and give his family the opportunity to celebrate together.”
Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness.
“We grant about 150 wishes each year across Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Right now, we have nearly 400 children in Kentucky waiting for their wish and we need the community’s support to make those wishes come true. We would love for you to visit www.oki.wish.org or follow us on social media @makeawishohkyin to stay in the loop on how to help,” said Hyde.
