UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 05, 2021 / Students from Bishop Perowne CE College left their mark on the new school extension after taking part in a steel signing ceremony.
The ceremony was to celebrate the final stages of the steelwork erection for the extension to Bishop Perowne’s main building. Students and teachers signed beams and were joined by representatives from Interclass, the award-winning Wolverhampton-based construction company that is completing the build.
The build will expand and improve Bishop Perowne’s facilities by creating a larger kitchen and dining area, as well as six new state-of-the-art classrooms. This will allow the school to increase its intake from 210 to 240 to satisfy the local demand for more school places.
Jane Price, Headteacher at Bishop Perowne CE College, commented:
“This is an exciting milestone for the build and it’s great to see the progress being made. Work started at the beginning of the school year and will be completed in the summer ready for us to welcome an increased intake of students in September. Whilst the signatures will be hidden once the project is complete, the steel signing ceremony gave our current students, who are going to benefit from the new facilities, the chance to leave their mark and be part of the build.”
All the materials being used in the project are locally sourced from Midlands-based companies and the timber is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved. The FSC is an international non-profit organisation that promotes responsible forestry and using FSC certified timber means that the wood has been harvested from forests that are environmentally and responsibly managed.
