Bodmin School Completes Garden Repair Thanks to Community Fund Win

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 21, 2020 / As previous winners of RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund, Beacon Ace Academy has been able to repair its vegetable garden which was damaged by a storm at the beginning of the year.

In March, the Bodmin school was chosen as one of nine RGB Community Fund finalists and it was down to the public to vote for the group they would like to win. After receiving the most votes, the school was awarded £1,000 to spend on timber and landscaping materials at an RGB branch.

Beacon Ace Academy developed the vegetable garden to encourage outdoor learning and sustainability. Thanks to the Community Fund, the school has been able to repair the growing areas so pupils can be involved in the planting, growing, harvesting and cooking of the produce.

Simon Rowe, Science Leader at Beacon Ace Academy, who nominated the school, commented:

“We would like to say a massive thank you to RGB Building Supplies. The materials we were able to buy means our pupils can once again enjoy growing vegetables and use our outdoor learning facility to enrich their learning.”

Peter Derry from RGB’s Bodmin branch added:

“This is just the type of project our Well Built Community Fund is there to support. Beacon Ace Academy was voted the winner just as the country went into lockdown in March, so I’m delighted to finally be able to visit. I hope the children enjoy using and learning from the vegetable garden – it looks fantastic.”
