BROOKLYN, NY / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 24, 2021 / BRANNAN PROMISES FURTHER POLICE DEFUNDING; FOX DEMANDS REFUNDING NYPD
City Councilman Justin Brannan (D-43rd), who has bragged to progressives about his $1 billion defunding of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), is surreptitiously promising his progressive friends additional NYPD cuts, despite the city’s escalating crime wave that has long-time residents terrified.
In a text message made available to the Brian Fox for City Council campaign, Mr. Brannan writes: “I understand many feel these cuts didn’t go far enough but the work doesn’t stop tonight.”
Mr. Fox, a Bay Ridge businessman who has made refunding the NYPD, restoring “Broken-Windows” policing, and ending no-cash bail to keep communities safe central platforms of his candidacy for City Council, called on Mr. Brannan to explain exactly what “the work doesn’t stop tonight” means.
“Clearly, Mr. Brannan is signalling to the political Left that defunding of the NYPD has only just begun,” Mr. Fox said. “One wonders if Mr. Brannan has any idea what’s going on in his district; an 88-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight in Bensonhurst just a few weeks ago, and Mr. Brannan wants to cut police resources more? It seems like he cares more about what the hard political Left thinks of him than he does about the safety of his own constituents. Talk about out of touch.”
Mr. Brannan is the same Council Member caught speeding in Brooklyn school safety zones 16 times after publicly calling on his constituents to “Slow the ‘F’ down!”
