Commercial vehicle safety experts Brigade Electronics has received the Royal seal of approval after being awarded a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of its international trading success.
The honour is the most highly prized award for UK businesses and is only presented to organisations that can demonstrate outstanding success in fields such as innovation, international trade and sustainable development.
Her Majesty the Queen personally approves all winners before they are announced by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. As award winners, Brigade will be permitted to use the esteemed Queen’s Awards emblem on all its products and business dealings for five years.
The award in the International Trade category is a remarkable achievement for Brigade, which was founded in 1976 with the mission statement: to prevent collisions and save lives by developing and marketing vehicle and mobile machinery safety solutions.
The company was formed by Chris Hanson-Abbott, whose vision to improve the safety of commercial vehicles led to him being honoured with an OBE for services to road safety in 2014. The Brigade team brought the very first reversing alarm to Europe, and since then the company has worked tirelessly, introducing a full range of vehicle safety systems.
Brigade’s bestselling products include 360-degree cameras, which completely eliminate blind spots, proven to be the leading cause of commercial vehicle accidents; radar detection, which detects moving and stationary objects even in adverse conditions; and reversing alarms, which use advanced broadband sound technology to ensure it is only audible in the danger zone.
The company’s clients stretch across more than 70 countries worldwide and include OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to recognised global fleets, as well as organisations from the transport industry, construction, quarrying, agriculture, and freight and haulage.
Brigade will be presented with the Queen’s Award at a ceremony on June 11th.
Chris Hanson-Abott OBE said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been awarded this honour. It’s testament to the hard work of our amazing team, who are all fully committed to Brigade’s mission to save lives.
“We work with commercial organisations across Europe, as well as the US and Canada, and we’re very proud of all our products and how they’ve helped to dramatically improve road and worksite safety. To be recognised for our expertise with such a prestigious award is truly wonderful and a real boost as we continue our research and development of commercial vehicle safety systems.”
