Bulgin’s Thisen Bird recognised as a Whitworth Scholar

CAMBRIDGE, UK / AGILITYPR.NEWS / March 25, 2026 / Bulgin, a leading manufacturer of environmentally sealed connectors and components, is proud to announce that Thisen Bird – Associate Product Manager at the company – has been recognised as a Whitworth Scholar. This marks a significant milestone in Thisen’s engineering career, reflecting both his academic success and commitment to continuous professional development. Thisen’s role at Bulgin combines hands-on engineering expertise and commercial activities, and continuing education such as this will help him further support and provide value to Bulgin’s customers.

The Whitworth Scholarship Awards were founded by Sir Joseph Whitworth in 1868 to support talented engineers with strong practical and academic credentials. The programme is linked with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and supported by the Whitworth Society. It champions engineers from vocational and apprenticeship backgrounds, helping them to progress their careers through further study while connecting with a wider professional community.

Thisen’s achievement reflects Bulgin’s commitment to supporting professional development and creating opportunities for engineers to grow their expertise, apply new knowledge and make a wider impact. Thisen commented: “Becoming a Whitworth Scholar opens the door to a community of like-minded engineers who’ve followed a similar path. I’m looking forward to learning from others, sharing my knowledge and collaborating with people across the profession. I also hope this achievement inspires future engineers to explore how far an apprenticeship and additional education can take them.”
