COFES Institute Announces Microsoft to be Platinum Sponsor and Keynote at the 2019 Congress on the Future of Engineering Software

-- Microsoft to share its vision of the manufacturing industry, and the opportunities for developers of cloud-based software solutions for design and manufacturing --

The COFES Institute announces that Microsoft will be the Platinum Sponsor of COFES 2019, to be held in Silicon Valley (Menlo Park, CA) April 7th through the 10th, 2019. Microsoft will deliver a keynote on the COFES 2019 theme of technology convergence from a software perspective. The trend of convergence creates new challenges and opportunities for any company developing software solutions for design and manufacturing. Microsoft will share their insights regarding the possibilities the cloud can bring to companies for competitive advantages when it comes to software solutions for design and manufacturing.

“Microsoft is enabling solution providers to build cloud-based solutions for Engineering and Manufacturing,” said Diego Tamburini, Microsoft Principal Industry Lead - Cloud for Engineering and Manufacturing, “It is our intent to provide a seamless delivery platform for solutions from our partners which companies can leverage in order to realize a significant ’go to market’ advantage."

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this year’s theme is the convergence of technologies and the software needed for design and engineering. Convergence is happening and quickly. Never have we been at such a confluence of opportunities. However, design teams are struggling to keep up. Convergence Technologies such as Additive Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Generative Design, IoT, Machine Learning, and Cloud, to enable scenarios that were not possible before.

The need to effectively design in this new reality will become increasingly more important. There is a gap today. Companies are dealing with convergence with brute force, the software tools do not exist yet to manage the expanded, evolving design process. It is the mission of COFES to examine the need from a software perspective and serve our various constituents from end-users to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to investors to industry analysts.

Microsoft’s keynote is titled “What Does the Manufacturer of the Future Look Like? A Microsoft Perspective." Keeping up with the COFES theme of Convergence, Microsoft will share thought leadership in the areas of connected products, connected services, factory of the future, intelligent supply chains, and the strategic trends that Microsoft is witnessing and their vision of a cloud-enabled marketplace of solutions enabling best-in-class solutions that work together.

“Microsoft is proud to be the Platinum Sponsor for COFES 2019. This event, with its roots in engineering software, is still very focused on its mission to drive the future directions of engineering and manufacturing software solutions. This year, the COFES Institute has demonstrated an important expanded vision with its theme of ‘convergence of technology’. COFES 2019 provides a unique opportunity to have conversations with the thought leaders in this solution space which will provide insight to us for building out the best cloud-based marketplace for design and manufacturing."

"And lastly, we want to communicate to solution providers and system integrators that Microsoft is looking to build partnerships and onboard their solutions to our platform and marketplace," said Tamburini.
