Composites Manufacturer Heads to Advanced Engineering

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 27, 2021 / Exel Composites will attend Advanced Engineering, the UK’s largest annual gathering of engineering professionals, at the NEC, Birmingham on November 3 and 4, 2021. The show presents an opportunity for prospective and existing customers from across the engineering sector to meet with Exel and view solutions. It will also be an opportunity for customers to meet Exel’s newly appointed UK R&D manager, Neil Dykes.

With manufacturers becoming increasingly more concerned about global supply chain security, Exel is providing reassurance by combining the large footprint, expertise, and capabilities of a global company with the ability to offer local production and support from its UK branch.

“We have found that customers are worried about global supply chains and shipments, particularly from China where they often don’t know if and when their orders will arrive due to all the disruptions,” explained Neil Dykes, UK R&D manager at Exel Composites. “UK manufacturers can be assured of supply chain security when ordering from us because of our ability to fulfill orders locally.”

Aside from supply chain questions Exel will have a range of its innovative composite solutions on display on stand P50, located in the composites section at Advanced Engineering. These solutions include composite conductor core rods, made from carbon fiber, that showcase both the high technical and quality production standards that are possible using Exel’s processes.

“The benefits of long-spooled carbon are clear, but it is important that companies work with a trusted composites partner with the ability to manufacturer products in high volumes to specific specifications, according to high quality assurance standards, to get the most out of them,” explained Peter Holland, area sales manager at Exel Composites’ UK branch. “Pultrusion and pull-winding are continuous manufacturing processes, designed for volume production. Because of the continuous nature, ensuring consistent product quality is more straightforward compared to other composite production techniques.

“We see a lot of new customers who are looking to adopt composites in their processes, and we know that they typically come with many questions. Our goal is to first understand their challenges and needs so we can see how composites can best help them. We can then consult with clients on what, if any, changes are needed in their manufacturing processes to integrate composites,” concluded Holland.
