Consultation over amended standards for toys and children’s products in Hong Kong
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 20, 2024 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 172.24 to highlight Hong Kong’s consultation over plans to revise its toys and children’s products standards.
Hong Kong’s Ordinance Cap 424 regulates toys and children’s products. Under this ordinance, they must comply with all applicable requirements in any single safety standard specified in Schedule 1 (Toy Standards) or Schedule 2 (Product Standards).
A one-month consultation was launched in Hong Kong on December 2, 2024, over proposed updates to the safety standards, which would adopt up-to-date and operative versions of the standards for toys and seven categories of Schedule 2 products in an annex to the ordinance.
