Continental Animal Wellness Center Expands Team and Services

FLAGSTAFF, AZ / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 14, 2022 / Continental Animal Wellness Center (CAWC) announces the expansion of their team and services with the addition of doctor of veterinary medicine, Dr. Katy Green.

Dr. Green, originally from Flagstaff, attended NAU for her undergraduate degree and graduated from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2005.

“I am excited to be back in my hometown working with large dog breeds and expanding the services of Continental Animal Wellness Center.” said Dr. Green.

With the addition of Dr. Green to the team, CAWC will now offer gastropexy, a surgical procedure that is performed on large breed dogs to tack their stomach in place, reducing the risk of a life-threatening condition called GDV (gastric dilatation and volvulus). Dr. Green will also perform brachycephalic airway surgery on short-nosed breeds like pugs and bulldogs. Brachycephalic airway surgery opens up the nostrils and shortens the soft palate to increase airflow. This surgery improves the quality of life for these patients and allows them to breathe freely.

In addition to the new procedures under Dr. Green's purview , CAWC will now offer Canine Artificial Insemination and an Ambulatory Vet Service. Artificial Insemination is an assisted reproductive technique used in canine breeding that can compensate for the inability or unwillingness to mate naturally. This includes in-clinic testing to determine progesterone levels to help identify the ideal timing for both artificial insemination and live cover breedings. Ambulatory Vet services are open to small and large animal care and will be available two days per week.
