UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / April 21, 2022 / Covers Timber & Builders Merchants in Burgess Hill has donated more than £500 worth of materials, including decking and sleepers, to the children’s charity, WellChild.
WellChild provides garden makeovers for children living with complex care needs. Its latest project, Max’s Garden located in Burgess Hill, is on behalf of 11-year-old Max who has four limb cerebral palsy, is non-verbal and has hearing and vision problems. He uses a wheelchair and requires full adult support, 24-hours a day.
The current family garden, which doesn’t allow Max to spend time outside, will be converted to address his needs and provide enough outside space to allow him to build up his strength using mobility aids.
The project is scheduled to start at the end of March and will involve a group of volunteers from ServiceMax, who will be given just two days to complete the work.
Luke Brown, Helping Hands Project Manager for WellChild, said:
“It’s great to have so many people getting involved with this project and for companies, like Covers, providing us with the essential materials and equipment we need to complete the project. We are so grateful to Covers and everyone else who has made sure this project will be possible.”
Terry Lace, Depot Manager of Covers Burgess Hill, added:
“We are delighted to be helping WellChild with this important project. We cannot wait to see Max’s Garden once it has been completed.”
As a thank you, the family presented Covers’ staff with a cake shaped into a bulk bag featuring the company’s logo.

WELLCHILD – www.wellchild.org.uk
WellChild is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. More than 100,000 children and young people are living across the UK with serious health needs. Many spend months, even years in hospital simply because there is no support enabling them to leave. Meanwhile those who are at home face inconsistent and inadequate levels of support. Through a nationwide network of children’s nurses, home and garden projects, family training and support services, WellChild exists to give this growing population of children and young people the best chance to thrive – properly supported at home with their families.
With less than 2% of income coming from statutory sources, WellChild is wholly reliant on the support of individuals and organisations. To make a donation visit wellchild.org.uk/donate.
