UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 13, 2020 / Since the onset of Covid-19 hundreds of organisations have had to adapt and make significant changes to parts of their operation simply to survive. Devon Air Ambulance never stands still when it comes to the continuous development of their life-saving service and nor does their focus on income generation. It is that desire to survive and to continue to provide for the people of Devon, that they too are diversifying, by launching not one, but two new ventures.
In these uncertain times, when footfall on the High Street is at an all-time low, looking at new opportunities is essential, especially as many retailers are concerned about how any further lockdowns may be detrimental to their business. The Devon Air Ambulance charity shops are performing well but as many people choose to shop online, they have found success in their eBay Shop.
With this in mind, DAA is launching a second online shopping platform with Shopify. This new shopping channel will reach audiences that they are not currently engaging with and will mean their preloved range of donated goods accessible to those searching for a bargain in the remotest parts of Devon and beyond.
The charity shop itself will take on a completely new use and will become the first ‘Devon Air Ambulance Community Zone’ where people can pop in to say hello, pay for their lottery, deliver donations, share their own experiences of the service if they wish and also learn more about their vital work.
Income Generation Director, Caroline Creer, says,
“With our funds severely affected due to Covid-19, we are pleased to be able to find new ways to generate income and engage with our supporters at the same time. We are excited and confident that our new Shopify channel and our new Community Zone will achieve both of these things and we are looking forward to welcoming the people of South Molton and further afield in the coming weeks.”
The new Community Zone is open from Wednesday 14 October and will be welcoming visitors between 10am and 3pm during the Winter months. Closed Sunday.
About Us
Devon Air Ambulance
Devon Air Ambulance Trust is the Charity which raises the funds to keep Devon’s two Air Ambulances flying.
In March 2020 the charity also introduced two Rapid Response Critical Care Cars to their fleet of vehicles.
The service is 28 years old and is funded by the generosity of the community, businesses and friends of Devon.
Last year the helicopters assisted 985 patients, of which 10% were children.
The Exeter based aircraft operates until 2am every day and in 2019 it was called to 139 patients in the hours of darkness using a growing network of Community Landing Sites.
