UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / February 27, 2020 / Embedded computing expert Diamond Point International is rebranding as Recab UK. Taking effect from April 1, 2020, the rebrand will see Diamond Point International adopt a more service-led offering to complement its existing consultation and distribution operations. The Diamond Point International team will continue to provide its industry expertise to companies across the UK under the new name.
The change signifies the close working relationship between the Diamond Point International team and its Nordic sister company, Recab AB. Diamond Point International and Recab AB are both parts of the Addtech group, a Sweden-based trading group of technology companies. Addtech acquired Diamond Point International in 2018.
Diamond Point International has established itself as a leading UK embedded computing consultant, designer and distributor. Serving the embedded computing industry for over 30 years, Diamond Point International has seen industry change dramatically, with OEMs and integrators moving away from proprietary designs to flexible open-standards, incorporating technologies like Computer-on-Modules.
“The embedded computing market is constantly expanding and evolving,” commented Martin Frederiksen, managing director of newly rebranded Recab UK. “Therefore, it’s crucial to evolve the organisation with it. Embedded computing sees seemingly endless innovation and growth, with concepts such as smart devices, AI and the Internet of Things becoming more and more prevalent. Not many could guess the next big idea in computing, which makes flexibility a significant advantage.
“Diamond Point International’s customers have come to expect the equipment and consultative services we offer to be the best available. This rebrand plays a big part in building and maintaining the momentum needed to realise these exciting new concepts for our customers. It also expands the horizons of the organisation, offering the ability to tackle the constantly shifting market landscapes our customers face. Also, it makes it easier to reach out to help businesses struggling with these novel ideas.”
“Recab AB has a knowledge in defence, as well as energy and offshore that we would really like to bring to the UK.” Commented Carolin Burlin, managing director of Recab AB. “We focus on smaller to midsize volumes in verticals that value proximity to their supplier and where their environment dictates rugged solutions.
“Recab AB have for many years been focused on advanced modular computer (AMC) and backplane designs, based on open standards like VME, cPCI, xTCA and VPX, as well as customized- and hybrid backplanes.
“Their patented COTS™ Custom-Off-The-Shelf concept where they perform minor tweaks to COTS solutions like BoxPCs, Servers, PPCs has a proven track record of reducing, cost, risk and time to market.
“In addition, they bring in expertise on rugged, SWaP optimized Computers as well as state-of-the-art Hyperconverged infrastructure virtualized server solutions for demanding applications. Furthermore, we already have a lot of the same suppliers, like Congatec, Kontron, and INSYS.”
Cees Koetsier, business unit manager of Addtech AB, also commented. “It is the wish of Addtech to create a strong Northern European brand that can focus on the four verticals: oil and gas, defence, transportation, energy and offshore, and reuse the knowledge and capabilities across the region.”
