GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / March 14, 2025 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 036.25, summarizing the EU’s amendments to three laws associated with food contact materials (FCM) and articles. The effective date for the revisions is March 16, 2025.
Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/351 (the Regulation) was issued on February 24, 2025, revising the following three pieces of legislation on FCM and articles:
New provisions have been introduced for ‘materials intended for reprocessing’ under the GMP regulation and requirements for quality assurance systems for recyclers have been amended.
Several provisions in Regulation (EU) No.10/2011 on food contact plastics have also been revised, including definitions, the concept of ‘purity’ for substances used in FCM and article manufacture, and documentation, labeling requirements and indicators for specific migration limits (SML) and the stability rule.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to inform stakeholders about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 036.25 includes a useful table with highlights of the new amendments to food contact plastics Regulation (EU) No.10/2011.
