UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 17, 2025 / Energy Saving Genie, the UK’s leading energy grant support platform, has announced a major update to its free online grant checker. The upgraded tool has been expanded to include eligibility for the Warm Homes Local Grant, a new government-backed scheme launched in April 2025, further extending its ability to help people access funded energy-saving upgrades.
The checker already supports major national schemes, including Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) grants, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS). The addition of the Warm Homes Local Grant marks another step in Energy Saving Genie’s mission to simplify access to home energy improvements by offering one of the most comprehensive and accessible eligibility checker tools for UK households.
The Warm Homes Local Grant provides free energy-saving improvements for select low income households, those receiving specific benefits, or people living in certain postcode areas. Improvements can include insulation for walls, lofts, and floors, as well as upgrades such as air source heat pumps, smart heating controls, and solar panels.
Kate Hallewell, Founder of Energy Saving Genie, said: “This is yet another step in our mission to simplify access to crucial support. Many people don’t realise just how many schemes are out there, or fail to understand what schemes they qualify for. By including the Warm Homes Local Grant in our free checker, we’re helping households unlock improvements that could make a massive difference to their safety, their wellbeing and their energy bills.”
Eligibility for the Warm Homes Local Grant includes some clear criteria, for example applicants must live in a council area that has been awarded funding, and the property must be privately owned, either by the occupant or a landlord. The home must also have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, or G. However, other criteria are less clear-cut and the other rules can easily cause confusion, which is why the Energy Saving Genie grant checker has been designed to remove uncertainty and increase clarity.
The Energy Saving Genie grant checker is a free, fast, and user-friendly tool designed to help people access government-funded support for energy-efficient upgrades. In a few minutes, it generates a tailored result showing what schemes a household may qualify for, and what steps should be taken next. By connecting people to funding routes and trusted support, the tool helps more households live comfortably, affordably, and sustainably while reducing energy costs and boosting efficiency.
