FREDERICK, MD / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 16, 2021 / 430 total new students arriving in Frederick this Wednesday make up second-largest cohort of new students (first-year and transfers) in school history

Hood College will make history this week as it welcomes 334 first-year and 96 transfer students on Wednesday for move-in and day one of new student orientation.

The class of 2025 hails from 19 different states plus Washington D.C. and includes international students from five different countries. Incoming students are showing a strong interest in STEM as the top five majors of interest for the class include: nursing, business, psychology, biology and computer science. 278, or 87%, of all new students will call Hood their home and live on campus.

Returning sophomores will also have a chance to experience a “SophomoRE Orientation” which aims to give students who were unable to participate in orientation during the previous year a chance to experience the excitement that comes with beginning the new academic year.

“We are incredibly excited to be able to not only welcome our new students to campus, but to be able to do it safely in near-normal conditions,” said Hood College President Andrea Chapdelaine, Ph.D. “With the return of in-person instruction and more students returning to live on campus, we’re eager to welcome back our Hood community.”
