The newest member of Husky Corporation’s successful “X” family of nozzles is engineered for diesel-powered cars and trucks with small Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tanks.

The X DEF Low Volume Nozzle is designed for a maximum flow rate of just 2.6 gallons per minute to safely fill DEF tanks with about five gallons of capacity. The nozzle is built upon the exceptionally reliable X DEF platform, to which Husky engineers added features to create a lightweight, low-cost, low volume offering that includes:

• A flow regulator built into the inlet of the nozzle.
• A patented spout design that assures compliance with ISO 22241-5, the standard that prevents mis-filling of DEF in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
• The flow design reduces the possibility that urea-based DEF will crystalize.

“This spout is 3 / 4” in diameter to work with the fill necks in small volume DEF tanks. That fill neck contains a component which will retract the end of the spout, which opens a valve to allow DEF to flow,” said Roger Wiersma, Husky Corporation Product Design Engineer. “In addition, inside the vent tube there is a check valve based on a magnet and ball bearing design. If the spout doesn’t retract, DEF won’t flow even if the lever is open, and the entire system is pressurized.”

The body of the DEF Low Volume Nozzle is made of Anodized Aluminum to protect against corrosion. It is available with a one inch BSPP inlet for ATEX application in Europe. It is also available with a M34 inlet thread, for DEF dispensers in the U.S. The product line includes DEF compatible Swivel/Safe-T-Break® combos as well as a variety of nozzle guards and handle covers.
