UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / February 09, 2021 / Over the past year, good news stories for businesses have been thin on the ground. PLM Global, however, have shown that it’s possible to not only survive but actually thrive in these challenging circumstances.
Adaptability is key to business survival during this global pandemic, and the team at PLM Global understand this very well. That’s why they have invested heavily in their new e-commerce website, which will ensure that their products and customer service remain entirely accessible throughout the lockdown period, Brexit and beyond.
Founded in 2014, PLM Global specialise in the supply, repair and maintenance of hand-held capture devices, mobile print and EPoS hardware. In their relatively short trading history, they have already managed to reach an annual turnover of £3.1million, add more than 350 new clients to their books and forge some impressive blue-chip partnerships to boot.
Not content to stop there, these forward-thinkers of total inventory and logistics management also managed to reach the finals of the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards in 2020, in the category of Small Business of the Year. It was here where they had been recognised for qualities over and above their solid financial performance; qualities such as their admirable environmental credentials and their commitment to supporting clients even when budgets are being severely squeezed.
Success on this scale has also seen the need to expand the team. From just four employees in 2014 to their current payroll of 24, they are still recruiting for new roles and continuing to support the training and development of their existing staff. The senior management team at PLM Global, after all, know the real value of looking after the employees who have helped them achieve this remarkable success to date.
The directors and founders may have stayed the same since 2014, but having recently committed their time to assess the future needs of the business, there have been changes to their individual roles. Sean Smiles will now concentrate solely on Global Sales, whilst Shane Watson and Paul Spensley will share the responsibility for the domestic market as joint Managing Directors of UK operations.
Shane Watson, Managing Director of PLM Global, told us:
“We always had the very highest aspirations when we launched PLM Global, but even I have to admit that our current position has exceeded everything we thought was possible. To reach a consistent turnover of more than £3 million in such a short time is impressive enough, but we’ve also grown so strong as a company. We now find ourselves in a great position to take any future challenges head-on.
The past year has been challenging for everyone, but I believe that our focus on the foundations of the business, and how we could adapt to best serve our client base, has been the real secret to our success. I’m immensely proud of the entire team and can’t wait to see what else we can achieve together.”
