Insight Guides Greece
Out 1st May 2019
Greece saw its visitor numbers rise by 19% from January to August last year, according to World Travel Monitor, a global analysis of travel trends released by ITB Berlin and IPK International. ABTA’s Trends 2019 report also suggests that Greece will be a popular holiday destination this year – it says that bookings to Greece for Summer 2019 have increased by 6%.
Travel brand Insight Guides has responded to this trend by releasing an updated version of its Greece travel guide, complete with a free eBook and app. The book encourages venturing off-the-beaten track so that travellers can have an authentic experience avoiding hoardes of tourists and at the same time reduce the chances of popular tourist hotspots being ruined through overtourism.
With the International Monetary Fund saying it’s optimistic about Greece’s growth prospects for 2019 and television programmes like ITV’s ‘The Durrells’ showcasing the beauty of the Greek island of Corfu, Insight Guides anticipates a good year for Greek tourism.
Tatiana Wilde, editor of Insight Guides Greece, says,
“Greece has long been known as a beautiful and affordable destination, with great food and a warm welcome from locals, so it’s great to see an uplift in people going to enjoy all it has to offer. We’ve tried to make planning a trip to Greece easier by creating a guidebook that combines useful travel advice and ideas on the best places to go with background information on Greece’s rich heritage, history, and culture.”
