ISRAEL / AGILITYPR.NEWS / December 15, 2020 / Almost 6 out of 10 women have already been unfaithful to their husbands because they aren’t helping enough with the chores.
Men who don’t help their wives in housekeeping have more chances to be cheated on. According to a survey conducted by the leading extramarital online dating website Gleeden, 57% of Israeli women are looking for a lover online because their husbands don’t do their share of chores.
The survey questioned over 1,000 Israeli female subscribers* to understand the reasons behind their subscription to an extramarital dating website such as Gleeden and unveiled shocking details about the nature of female infidelity.
Gender equality in the household is still out of reach for many women who are still the ones to be in charge of housekeeping. Several studies found out that women still spend more time than men on housework: at least 74 minutes more, devoting not less than 3 hours of their time daily to taking care of the house. On the other hand, men devote to themselves at least 3 hours and 20 minutes every day, while women’s me-time gets down to 2 hours and 45 minutes. No wonder women look more prone to stress and burn-outs!
In fact, 84% respondents confessed to have already had harsh discussions with their husbands about who does what, but what’s most shocking is discovering how these apparently petty fights can become a veritable drive towards infidelity.
57% OF ISRAELI WOMEN HAVE CHEATED ON THEIR PARTNER BECAUSE HE WAS TOO LITTLE INVOLVED IN THE DAILY CHORES
What appears to be a lousy excuse for a despicable act is often the last drop of a dissatisfaction that roots deep into a woman’s heart. By surveying over 1.000 female users, Gleeden found that almost 6 out of 10 women subscribed to the platform not only because unhappy about their marriage, but because the reason for this unhappiness laid exactly in the lack of their husbands’ helpfulness in the house.
After the struggles of the first lockdown, where couples were not prepared to cope with the effects of the prolonged confinement, this time married individuals – and especially married women – decided to de-stress online thanks to virtual flings able to take some tension out of the couple.
“Cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, running errands, and taking care of the children are still considered to be women’s responsibility, who eventually find themselves submerged by chores with little or no time to spare on themselves. – explains Sybil Shiddell, Country Manager Israel for Gleeden. – However, society has that if a woman can’t successfully carry out all these tasks, she cannot be properly considered a good wife, nor by her husband, nor his family nor herself. This belief ends up taking a huge toll on her, who juggles trying to do everything to big detriment of her selfcare and wellbeing.”
On the contrary, when women find the tangible help and support of a man sharing the chores, part of this burden gets lifted from their shoulders both literally and metaphorically: by sharing the housekeeping, the couple shares the responsibility of their marriage's success, that becomes a real partnership.
MEN WHO HELP IN THE HOUSE ARE REWARDED IN THE BEDROOM!
Gleeden’s study also found that slacker men are less attractive: disappointment leads to frustration that leads to desire loss. In fact, 22% of responders claimed that they are looking elsewhere also because they no longer find their lazy husbands sexually attractive.
That sex and housekeeping go hand in hand finds correspondence also in another study from the University of Alberta, in Canada. According to this research men who help in the house are likely to be rewarded… in the bedroom! Who knew that the secret of a long-lasting and happy marriage is as simple as doing the dishes together!
*Online survey conducted on Gleeden.com from November 27th to December 4th, 2020 on a sample of 1,085 Israeli female subscribers who checked “married” in their marriage status.
