TEL AVIV, ISRAEL / AGILITYPR.NEWS / November 26, 2020 / An Israeli medical device, which created a patent device used to treat Covid-19 patients, is set to enter Indian market for the first time.

The move comes after Hospitech Respiration announced it has received the approval from India’s CDSCO (The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) for the AG Cuffill® device, a disposable manometer for airway cuff pressure management.

The AG Cuffill® device, a syringe-like manometer is used to measure and adjust airways cuff pressure in ventilated patients, including intubated Covid-19 patients.

 “We are pleased to finally obtain the approval from India’s regulatory body. We see high interest and demand for the AG Cuffill® device from the Indian market and the first order for several thousand units has been already placed,” says Yoav Venkert, CEO of Hospitech Respiration. “The growing need for an accurate, simple to use disposable manometer for airway cuff management is seen not only in India, but also globally. Over the last few months, more than ten new distribution agreements have been signed for the AG Cuffill® in Asia pacific, Europe, South America and several more are underway.”

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hospitech has seen sales of the AG Cuffill® double amid growing need to minimize cross-contamination in general and specifically in Covid-19 patients.

Measuring and adjusting the airway cuff pressure is critical for patients intubated with a cuffed endotracheal (ET) tube, tracheostomy tube, LMA or MPA. Cuff pressures can change rapidly, especially during transport or as patients change position over time. The AG Cuffill® is a device that enhances patient safety while diminishing the risk of cross contamination. 

The device is used by all medical professionals including Respiratory, Anesthesia, first responders and home providers to reduce potential for aspirations associated with under-inflated cuff or ischemic injury associated with over-inflation.
