UNITED KINGDOM, / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 06, 2021 / Get Sparkly this October in aid of Brain Tumour Support
With the help of some well-known celebrities, including Joel Dommett from the Masked Singer; Joel’s wife, model Hannah Cooper; and comedian Jayde Adams, Brain Tumour Support is encouraging people across the UK to sign up to their Sparkle Up Your Day campaign, raising funds for their vital support services. https://www.braintumoursupport.co.uk/sparkle
Joel and Hannah are calling on everyone to get involved, saying:
“We love the idea of Sparkle Up Your Day. Everyone needs something sparkly in their life and what better way to support the amazing work that Brain Tumour Support does.
“We'll be getting our glitter out for Sparkle Day and we can't wait to see photos of lots of sparkly outfits and events.
“We know first-hand just how valuable and needed the services that Brain Tumour Support provide are. But the charity desperately needs the funds to be able to reach out to the many people who currently lack any support. What better way than Sparkle to support an amazing cause and also have some fun at the same time.”
It’s not just people who can sparkle up this autumn for charity, pets are encouraged to join in the fun!
Brain Tumour Support is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting patients and families affected by any type of brain tumour, and funds raised will be used to help the charity deliver its essential support sessions and range of specialist services which are all free of charge to those who need them.
In the UK there are over 100,000 people living with a brain tumour and an average of 45 people every day receive this shocking diagnosis, which can affect anyone regardless of age, sex, lifestyle or general health. Sadly, brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other type of cancer.
No other charity offers the range of specialist emotional and practical support that Brain Tumour Support has developed.
In 2020, the Sparkle Up Your Day campaign raised funds to help people access support sessions, essential as diagnosis can often have complex and long-lasting physical, practical and psychological effects on the life of a whole family.
The importance of the support is summed up by Gabrielle, who regularly attends the online groups and says ‘These sessions are a life-changer for me’.
Brain Tumour Support receives no statutory funding or major sponsorship for its essential work, making donations and campaigns such as Sparkle Up Your Day particularly important.
Organise your own magical Sparkle event with friends and family this year to make a huge difference to people with brain tumours and their families.
Tina Mitchell Skinner, CEO of Brain Tumour Support, says, “The Sparkle campaign is a great opportunity to really let your imagination run riot. Whether you get friends round for tea and sparkly cakes, dress up for a walk or run, get your pets involved, or anything else, you’ll be having fun and raising essential funds for Brain Tumour Support!”

Tina adds, “This has been a tough year for us, as for many charities, and the Sparkle campaign will raise much needed funds to allow us to continue to provide help and support to people diagnosed as well as their families across the UK.”
Businesses can also get involved.
Tina adds, “We welcome business support through corporate fundraising, charity of the year events, or corporate fundraising pledges.
“We are thrilled to announce our first two headline partners, personalised printing specialists Printster and bespoke clothing embroidery and garment printers, Westcoast Workwear & Embroidery, and we welcome approaches and ideas from other organisations who’d like to further Brain Tumour Support’s work and to include us in their corporate social responsibility and altruism campaigns.”

About Us
Brain Tumour Support is the only UK charity dedicated to providing support for patients, families and carers. The charity vision is that no-one feels alone when facing the effects of a brain tumour diagnosis.
The charity provides tailored support across the UK through skilled Support Professionals and professional specialised counselling. The comprehensive services include support sessions, individualised and specialist information and guidance, and both practical and emotional support, at any point from diagnosis and for as long as it is needed.
Throughout the period of the coronavirus pandemic, face-to-face support and meetings have been suspended for the safety of everyone in the brain tumour community. Support has instead been maintained through online Zoom sessions for groups and individuals, as well as via telephone, email, and in Brain Tumour Support’s very popular Facebook support forum.
The services provided are not within the capacity of the NHS and no other charity offers the range of specialist emotional and practical support which Brain Tumour Support has developed. The NHS offers an amazing clinical service. However, for brain tumour patients the need for support extends far beyond the clinical setting and also beyond the patients themselves, due to the profound impact that a brain tumour can have on the whole family.
The charity continues to campaign to raise public awareness of the physical, practical and psychological effects, for both patients and those closest to them, that a brain tumour diagnosis can have. Even non-malignant and low grade tumours can often have life-changing effects leaving many people unable to live the lives they had before, and making specialist support vital.
