Join Ashley Palmer-Watts to Cook Up a Storm and Raise Money for Farm Africa

International charity Farm Africa has teamed up with Cookalong.TV to offer foodies the chance to cook along with Farm Africa ambassador Ashley Palmer-Watts, previously Chef Director for Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and the Fat Duck group, from the comfort of their own kitchens.
Ashley will cook Roast Cod with Thai Clam Broth at 7.30pm on Tuesday 27 October and will guide a lucky competition winner and his/her group of friends through the cooking process, while he answers questions from participants. The Cookalong will be simultaneously streamed on YouTube.
While lockdown has affected everyone, charities such as Farm Africa have really struggled to cope with the lack of fundraising opportunities and resulting loss of funding. Enter Cookalong TV and its Celebrity Cookalong series!
Celebrity Cookalong’s mission is to support various charities by enabling people to make £1 donations in aid of good causes and enter a raffle for the chance to join their favourite celebrities via video chat for intimate and immersive Cookalongs.
The Celebrity Cookalong concept is simple: much-needed money is raised through an online raffle. Participants can buy tickets for the chance to win a seat at the virtual cooking table with a celebrity host. Each entry costs just £1 and participants can enter as many times as they want to increase their chances of winning, with proceeds going towards Farm Africa’s work helping smallholder farmers across eastern Africa to grow more, sell more and sell for higher prices.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been an extremely challenging time for everyone, especially the most vulnerable members of society. With the launch of Cookalong TV and the Celebrity Cookalong series, we hope to provide some desperately needed financial support to the charities and volunteers who fundraise and help such worthy causes,” said Christopher Mair, Founder and CEO of Cookalong TV.
Marian Torres, Events Manager at Farm Africa, added: “This week, Farm Africa would have held our biennial Gala Dinner, which usually attracts more than two hundred guests to enjoy fine dining from some of the UK’s finest chefs, including Ashley Palmer-Watts, while raising money to fight hunger and poverty in eastern Africa. We were very disappointed to postpone the Gala due to the pandemic, but are delighted that Ashley is still able to raise funds for farming families in some of the world’s poorest communities, who have also been hit hard by the pandemic.”
Farm Africa’s Cookalong with Ashley Palmer-Watts follows other Cookalongs run by celebrities including Alex Jones, Sir Ian Botham, Jodie Kidd for a range of other charities.
