Lanes Group PLC Adds Titan Strength to Tanker Fleet

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / May 28, 2021 / Lanes Group plc – the UK’s largest independent drainage specialists – has introduced its first TITAN Jet-Vac tanker to its fleet, with five more on order. The latest innovative new product to surface from Solihull-based Whale Tankers - a specialist manufacturer to the waste and cleaning industries - the TITAN is being commissioned to operate within the Midlands area, where it will be used to support both private and public sector contracts.

Introduced by Whale Tankers to provide a powerful yet versatile solution when it comes to deep sewer cleaning and contract maintenance, the TITAN is the first Whale product to be available with a standard specification on a ‘ready to roll’ basis. Supplied on the latest Scania P Series 26 tonne 6 x 2 chassis, TITAN has been specifically developed to provide the cleaning capabilities associated with a high performance jet-vac tanker, even where location restrictions can prove difficult. Compact in size it is ideally suited to operate where entry is often limited, such as industrial sites and access roads. Its speed of efficiency and cost-effective attributes also make it a prime candidate for use in the de-silting of highways, an important preventative measure against flooding on UK roads and highways.

Constructed from stainless steel, the TITAN’s main 1200-litre tank features an infinitely variable moving division that assists with load discharge, and which features its own integral safety device. A secondary 660-litre overspill tank also forms part of the TITAN’s overall specification. Innovative features include Whale’s acclaimed 6” Sewer-Flex suction lifting boom, multi-positional through 270 degrees and which is powered by a Mistral 1000 water-cooled exhauster/compressor with an output of 1000 cfm. The Sewer-Flex boom - complete with its own fully incorporated and integral boom jetting hose arrangement - gives the TITAN the capacity to reach depths of 8m below ground without the need for additional attachments.

A URACA KD 718G series high-pressure pump that delivers 330 litres at 170 bar is used to power both the TITAN’s primary and secondary hose reel arrangements. The primary thermoplastic, 200 metre 1” hose reel is situated at the front of the TITAN’S tank; the hydraulically operated 60m x ½” high-pressure secondary hose being fitted nearside. For increased safety of operation, both come complete with safe mode and soft start-up.

The TITAN’s onboard system functionality, including diagnostics, is via a large, touchscreen full radio remote control or secondary hand held control. Joining Lanes Group plc’s 328 strong tanker fleet, the TITAN is full Chapter 8 highway compliant.

Completing the TITAN’s impressive standard specification are lightweight aluminium storage lockers, trays and ladder racks, together with four LED on-scene lights; two located nearside and two offside.

Commenting on the new Whale fleet newcomer, Lanes Group plc Managing Director, Wayne Earnshaw said: “Whilst the TITAN stands as a new model for Whale Tankers, its design in terms of its operational capability dovetails perfectly with our very own specific requirements, making it the ideal fit. We were particularly attracted to the fact that the TITAN is in essence an order to go product, which enables us to respond more quickly and efficiently to specific contract requirements across our customer base. Given the reputation of the Whale brand, coupled with the respect they hold when it comes to their service and backup provision, we are confident that the latest TITAN, plus the additional five and a significant number of additional Whale’s we have on order, will prove to be valuable additions to our extensive tanker fleet.”
