UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / January 15, 2020 / Season Opens March 2020
Belvoir Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, is one of the finest examples of Regency architecture in England and has featured in all three seasons of Netflix’s period drama series The Crown.
2020 is the perfect time for groups to visit to enjoy a day out fit for royalty with the launch of a new Royal Afternoon Tea and a Castle guided tour inspired by The Crown offered on selected dates from season opening in March 2020.
Olivia Colman, winner of a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, can be seen in the current season taking dinner in the State Dining Room and filming key scenes in the opulent Elizabeth Saloon, widely considered to be the most beautiful and picturesque room in the Castle.
Now a special Castle guided tour allows groups to follow in the footsteps of the cast of The Crown and find out all about the behind the scenes filming, on offer once a day at weekends during Castle opening. This season, Belvoir is also launching a Royal Afternoon Tea inspired by The Crown offering a wonderful opportunity to take tea in the State Dining Room, one of the locations used for the filming of the blockbuster royal historical drama.
A castle and garden guided tour is on offer to discover the history of Belvoir and experience a unique look at life in the 18th-century castle. The Leicestershire castle sits proudly on a hilltop and was given the French name Belvoir – meaning beautiful view. Home to Capability Brown’s expansive gardens and wonderful interiors, groups can discover the lost work of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown on a specialist guided tour of the gardens designed over 250 years ago.

About The Engine Yard
Carefully restored from Victorian buildings and surrounded by woodland, the Engine Yard is the first retail village of its kind in the local area. Originally constructed in 1850, the Engine Yard has a wealth of history, and was once the hub of the estate with a saw mill, wagon making shop and wheelwright’s shop. Today it’s home to a distinctive selection of shops and experiences right next to Belvoir Castle.
