Banff & Lake Louise Tourism is pleased to announce the return of Taste for Adventure on November 1-28, 2021, Banff National Park’s month-long culinary celebration. Some of Canada’s most talented chefs and award-winning restaurants are cooking up exclusive menus, unique dishes and irresistible specials that showcase ingredients unique to our region.

This year, 19 participating restaurants are offering unique fixed price menus or value-added offers. From intimate dinners to late-night gatherings, family brunches, lunches and more, the celebration offers something for every palate. Rediscover Rocky Mountain cuisine; spoil a loved one with a three-course table d-hôte menu at Eden, Banff’s only AAA/CAA 5-Diamond award restaurant, sip on a boutique cocktail while enjoying live entertainment at The Radiant, or sample an award-winning dish at Juniper Hotel Bistro.

Taste for Adventure coincides with the 46th annual Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival after a year’s hiatus. From November 1-7, visitors can adventure with their palate at their favourite participating restaurant and then head up to the newly renovated Jenny Belzberg theatre at The Banff Centre and watch adventure films on the big screen, including Radical Reels and a live interview with accomplished alpinist and climber, Brette Harrington. View the festival schedule.

Taste for Adventure offers the chance to enjoy cuisine at some of Banff’s finest establishments as well as some new restaurants that opened this year:

  • Situated on the newly refurbished Bear Street, Three Bears Brewery and Restaurant, Banff’s second brewery, is a brewery in a forest complete with a star gazing retractable roof, beer garden and 25-foot pine tree.
  • Indulge in Umami paired with premium sake at Shoku Izakaya, Banff’s first Japanese izakaya, owned by longtime Banffite Chef, Stephane Prevost.
  • Gather around a communal fire table at Banff’s new retro sushi, Japanese BBQ and karaoke spot, Hello Sunshine, and enjoy a set menu featuring shareable bar bites, sushi and cravable bao buns.
  • Enjoy a three-course tequila-inspired journey at Buffalo Mountain Lodge’s newly renovated restaurant, The Prow, including tortilla soup, slow braised bison tacos and fried mezcal-infused gelato with an optional tequila pairing.

Food aficionados can also expect to sample creative, regionally-inspired dishes featuring foods such as bison, elk and game meats, which are complemented by a wide selection of regional craft beers, small batch distilled spirits and wines from across Alberta and British Columbia. “The pandemic has proven Banff and Lake Louise’s hospitality industry is resilient, with a number of new restaurants having opened in the past year and a half,” said David Matys, Director, Events & Animation, Banff and Lake Louise Tourism. “There are so many enticing offers so we’re hoping visitors will plan ahead, stay a while and try dishes from multiple different restaurants while exploring our backyard.”

Taste for Adventure diners can enter an online draw to win one of four weekly prizes. These offer the chance to win an accommodation package, lift tickets and rental equipment from local ski resorts, a helicopter tour or a Canadian rocky mountain dog sledding experience. Contest details will be live in the coming week.

For those looking to maximize their time adventuring, there are plenty of hotels available. Find your dream retreat in the mountains.

Planning your visit ahead of time is crucial. Before heading out on your trip to the mountains, know where you’re going to park, how best to get around, how to stay safe and the status of businesses you plan to visit.
