Carréducker: Leathercraft and Shoe Design Workshops | 17 – 21 September at Unit 1.20, First Floor Courtyard

James Ducker and Deborah Carré of bespoke shoemakers Carréducker, run the UK’s only handsewn shoemaking & leather school at Oxo Tower Wharf on London’s iconic South Bank. The leathercraft workshops – ranging from making a belt to a secateurs case - are designed for complete beginners and are an excellent introduction to the traditional British leathercraft technique of saddle stitch. All accessories are made in sustainably sourced veg. tanned leather from Italy and oak bark tanned leather from Devon, with the smaller leather accessories made from offcuts from their bespoke shoemaking to reduce waste.

Carréducker’s Leathercraft and Shoe Design Workshops take place on 17 – 21 September, Saturday – Wednesday 11am-6pm, at their studio on the First Floor Courtyard of Oxo Tower Wharf. To see the full schedule of workshops and buy your tickets, visit their website here.

The project sees a trail of large globe sculptures across seven UK cities. In London, the globe at Oxo Tower Wharf is an installation as part of the London Design Festival activity at Oxo, across September and beyond. The globe is positioned in the Courtyard in front of gallery@oxo and Bargehouse – perfect for visiting in between exhibitions and workshops.

Until 31 October 2022, the globes displayed across these cities aim to inspire and galvanise communities to better understand what it means to be Black and British. The globe displayed at Oxo Tower Wharf is titled 'Fury and Fire', created as a collaboration between Saint Lucian artists Fiona Compton and Hailey Gonzales.
