Look After Your 2020 Vision

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 05, 2020 / When people think about health, they usually consider weight and exercise as key point indicators. However, caring for your eyesight and vision is an area that is often overlooked. A survey has revealed that one in six people in the UK do not have regular eyesight checks, with many stating that they don’t do this because of the fear of wearing glasses.

Simon Bandy, General Manager of Health Plus, here discusses why it is important to eat a low-fat and varied diet to look after the windows to the soul.

There are key nutrients that are considered to help promote eye health. These include:

Lutein, a carotenoid vitamin found in foods including broccoli, spinach, grapes, and orange juice

Zeaxanthin, found in green leafy plants and colourful fruits and vegetables

Bilberry, a berry native to Britain that is thought to help protect the retina

Lycopene, found in food such as tomatoes, watermelon and pink grapefruit which is a powerful antioxidant

However, busy lifestyles can impact on a person’s diet, so they eat for convenience, rather than the nutrition they need. If you are guilty of this, you may wish to consider taking a supplement that has been developed for the eyes. Try Health Plus Optim-Eyes (£11.95 for 30 VTabs) which contains all the above plus vitamins B6, C, E, and zinc.

Remember it is also important to have regular sight tests as recommended by your optician as they can see more than your vision and can pick up on general health problems and early signs of eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration – the UK’s leading cause of blindness.
