Meet the Singing Pharmacist – Bill Harris. He Has Created a Daily Songs to Encourage COVID Vaccinations

USA / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 28, 2021 / Bill Harris has been a pharmacist since 1979, and throughout his career, he's seen a lot of folks and helped them weather a lot of different illnesses and issues. But in those 42 years, he – like all of us – has never experienced anything like COVID-19.

Currently, a pharmacist at the Portland location of Family Health Centers, Inc., a not-for-profit community health center that provides a variety of health care services regardless of a person's health insurance status or ability to pay for services, Bill has become a beacon of light during the pandemic by lightening the mood for getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Each day when there are extra Covid vaccines at FHC Portland, Pharmacist Bill gets on the intercom and sings a different song integrating COVID into the lyrics!

The idea for the songfest came to him when he first started making a daily announcement to utilize the new COVID vaccines that were open and ready to use. He decided to start singing the report and making up lyrics relating to COVID and the vaccine to draw more attention to the announcement while simultaneously providing a bit of entertainment too. As Bill states, "From what part of my brain the lyrics come from, I have no idea! They just sort of appearing once I have a song in mind." Here's a favorite of his, visitors and staff at the Portland facility:

"Baby Shark-Covid Style"

Do do do do do do do

COVID shot do do do do do

COVID shot do do do do do

Get your COVID shot today

Step right up to do do do do do

Roll your sleeve up do do do do do

And send covid far away!

He concludes that little ditty with this announcement:

"As baby shark swims off to the horizon, we remind you to head on down to our pharmacy and get your COVID vaccination. No lines, no waiting, and no cost to you. And as always, Family Health Center thanks you and wishes you a good day and good health."

Now, who wouldn't be ready to roll up his or her sleeve for that?
