Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SOC 2 Type II outlines a vendor’s systems’ operational effectiveness. It measures whether they meet certain trust principles — security, availability, process integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. The rigorous certification process includes three months of planning followed by six months of auditing and observation.
