UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / March 24, 2021 / SPRING IS IN THE AIR FOR MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DESIGN DUO
Mother and daughter design duo Michelle and Stephanie Witts have a spring in their step after launching their first new collection during lockdown.
The talented pair from Norwich, who run Witts Design, are celebrating the launch of their spring collection of textiles, ceramics and fashion accessories, inspired by the flowers and colours of summer.
Refusing to let the long winter months of lockdown drag them down, Michelle and Stephanie turned their attention instead to their own happy family memories and how to use them to grow their collection.
The new floral portfolio is based on photos and images of summer, designed to bring gardens full of beautiful blooms into the home.
The fabrics have been designed from large blousy blooms such as Hydrangeas to the more delicate flowers of Wisteria, using bright and fresh colours that will compliment any home from new contemporary houses to traditional cottages.
Said Michelle: “With UK staycations being particularly popular this year, the new Spring collection includes a Coastal theme, reminding us of our holidays by the sea, bringing back fond memories of long fun filled days on the beach, paddling in rock pools searching for crabs and other wildlife, or just enjoying being outdoors.
“It’s a gentle reminder that despite the pandemic we live in a beautiful part of the world, and that’s what gives us our inspiration.”
Witts Design was created by Michelle and Stephanie seven years ago while they were both studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Textile Design. They use traditional methods such as screen printing, alongside modern digital techniques like Photoshop and Illustrator, to create their bespoke designs.
Their pieces are inspired by what they see and experience in the world, allowing them to explore everything from urban city life to the rural parks in the country, and stimulated by natural and manmade environments.
Said Michelle: “It’s lovely working together, because as well as having a lifetime of shared memories we can also bounce off each other creatively to produce our very unique and individual designs. The thought of launching this first collection in lockdown is what got us through the long, dark days of winter.”
