LONDON, UK / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 20, 2020 / Luxury rental and resale fashion platform My Wardrobe HQ today hosted a London Fashion Week event at Harvey Nichols to celebrate the launch of our new pop-up on the store’s ground floor. A panel took place on the 5th floor terrace and discussed “The Future of Fashion in a post covid era” in front of a very intimate, socially distanced and masked audience. Guests were also gifted handmade cotton linen facemasks from Mayamiko, a sustainable, zero-waste and ethical fashion brand made in Malawi by the women of the Mayamiko Trust.
Harvey Nichols is embracing the future of shopping with a pop-up with MY WARDROBE HQ, a rental and resale platform heading into store between 20th September – 18th November 2020. Positioned on the ground floor the pop-up will feature a selection of current and previous season designer womenswear pieces to rent and buy from designers such as Dundas, ROTATE, David Koma, The Vampire’s Wife, Alexander McQueen, Erdem, Chloe and more. The pop up’s aim is to give Harvey Nichols customers an opportunity to discover a more sustainable way of shopping clothes and accessories from current and past season womenswear collections by championing the mantra ‘Buy Better, Buy Less (and rent it out via MWHQ)’.
MY WARDROBE HQ is encouraging customers to continue to support the fashion industry by looking to new ways to shop, encouraging conscious consumption. Head to the till at Harvey Nichols with The Vampire’s Wife dress you really want, then when you’re ready to share it with someone else, list it on the MY WARDROBE HQ platform. Once it’s been rented out a few times on MY WARDROBE HQ, the dress has paid for itself!

Notes:
“We are delighted Harvey Nichols is joining us to be a disruptor and a revolutionary when it comes to sustainable fashion. In the Covid-19 era we have learned moments of human interaction are all that matters. ‘Going out,’ is rare and a special moment, and we want those moments to be perfect and give us lasting memories. Rental fashion is all about creating that perfect moment. There is no guilt about polluting the planet or spending on an item that you might only wear once.” – Jane Shepherdson, Chair MY WARDROBE HQ.
“The high-street is changing and adapting swiftly to the times. Together with Harvey Nichols, our message is about buying well and investing in designer items and then sharing them to help green fashion. MY WARDROBE HQ is symbolic of how the fashion industry is changing. The millennial has the mindset of ‘no ownership’, purchasing and sharing clothing is a great way for anyone to explore fashion this way. At the present moment you may want to look good for those rare and special moments out but save the planet and shop sustainably at the same time” – Tina Lake, Director of New Business Development and co-founder of MY WARDROBE HQ.
Laura Larbalestier, Group Fashion Buying Director at Harvey Nichols, says “We are very excited to work with MY WARDROBE HQ, which offers a really unique service with sustainable fashion at its core and reinforces the message that clothing can live beyond a current season. For me this project is all about redefining the art of dressing up. I love that our customers will be able to pop into Harvey Nichols, get a new lipstick, a blow dry and rent a dress for the evening all on the ground floor.”
