National housing provider selected as finalist for two industry awards

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / March 17, 2023 / A housing developer with a number of properties in Essex, London, Halifax, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire has been announced as a finalist in two categories at the prestigious Property Week RESI awards 2023.

National Housing Group (NHG) has been shortlisted in the ‘Landlord of the Year (Private and Social)’ and ‘Social Impact Initiative - Residential’ categories for its work providing homes for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, despite only being in business for less than three years.

Through its Green Homes Initiative, NHG is striving to provide more environmentally friendly social housing, which is cost effective for the tenant and gives them the best chance to lead a safe and happy life.

Stephen Wasserman, CEO at National Housing Group, said: “While we work hard to deliver environmentally friendly and cost effective social housing and all-round good property management, the sole driver for us is better outcomes for vulnerable people.

“Through our partnerships we have seen amazing results where people have improved their mental health and been able to spend money on nice things like transport to see family or healthier food through the money that we can save them on their bills.

“We are constantly trying to better ourselves as landlords for the communities we work in, and so it means a great deal to us that our work has been acknowledged.

“It’s very exciting to be announced as finalists in two award categories and the whole NHG team is really looking forward to hearing the results. We hope we can bring it home for the local communities we're part of and the partners we work alongside.”

A resident in one of NHG’s properties, who cannot be identified for their own protection, said: “I have everything I need here, I am actually very blessed that I have something, and I would give it five stars, in fact I would give the staff six if I could.

“I can wash, cook, eat and somehow recover. I want to return to normal. To come back to the normal version of my own life.”

The winners will be announced on 10th May at an event at Grosvenor House Hotel in London which all finalists are invited to and will be judged by a panel of independent judges.

National Housing Group was established in 2020 to help combat the housing crisis and homelessness in the UK.

The group works collaboratively with local authorities, housing associations and charities throughout the UK to provide better outcomes for vulnerable adults in the community.
