Turkish Customs has changed its requirements for samples being send to Turkey for testing by third parties. Applicable from May 15, 2019, all samples must now have a specified content name on the consignment note and invoice documents.
This means that generalized terms, such as apparel, caps, leather articles and textiles, are no longer acceptable. Instead, the sender must more accurately identify the products using terms such as men’s shirts, lingerie, boy’s jackets, plastic caps, leather handbags, linen fabric, etc.
In addition, the proforma invoice for samples must specify that the samples have “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE, “ALL SAMPLES ARE CUT”, and samples are sent for “LABORATORY TESTING” purpose. The total value stated on the proforma invoice must not exceed EUR 21 or USD 21, and it must be the original copy stamped and signed by the sender.
The new requirements came into effect on May 15, 2019. If the sender fails to abide by them, it will result in delays or the goods being returned.
