Following a six-figure investment, Colchester is home the area’s first purpose-built data centre.

A Colchester-based IT company has completed the design and build of a purpose-built data centre, the first of its kind in the area, following a six-figure investment.

The data centre, which is located on the Colchester Business Park in North Colchester, comes as demand rises for highly secure, efficient, and accessible infrastructure environments. As some businesses look to downsize their premises in the wake of the pandemic, a data centre offers an offsite IT solution which frees up storage room used for servers and offers a secure, managed, GDPR-compliant solution.

Commenting on the completion of the project, Adrian Morris, SDC Hosting and Support co-owner and technical director, said:

“Until now, businesses in and around Colchester were having to travel almost an hour to access the closest data centre, so we knew the demand was high.
