Europe’s largest independent 4th party logistics provider is celebrating retaining its inclusion in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems [1].
Thirteen companies from across the world were included in the Quadrant this year with 3T Logistics one of only two companies based in the UK.
Published on 27th March 2019, the report focuses on multimodal domestic transportation management systems (TMSs) that are a subset of the global TMS market. The report evaluates TMS vendors across 15 weighted criteria, recognising them based on completeness of vision and ability to execute.
For the second consecutive year, 3T Logistics has been recognised in the magic quadrant, with the company’s Event platform included in the report. As a modular, cloud-based TMS that offers a mix of SaaS to managed solutions, intuitive usability is an important feature of the Event system. The Connect module allows direct communication with carriers to manage orders and upload documents such as PODs and invoices. The system also provides routing and scheduling capabilities for companies with their own fleets.
3T’s experience as a 4PL and its collaboration with the universities of Nottingham and Warwick, was also recognised, as was the value of the audit consultancy that the company offers prior to TMS implementation to define potential benefits and calculate ROI.
3T’s managing director Tim Fawkes commented: “We are extremely proud to be again positioned in the Gartner Magic Quadrant which we feel is such a prestigious document in the transport management industry. To us, our positioning confirms us as one of the top TMS providers and rewards our innovative and unique approach to transport management. We believe that Gartner’s repeat recognition of 3T Logistics is a result of our continual enhancements to existing systems and new innovations.”
Although 3T’s main customer base is in Europe, the company is expanding operations in North America and Asia, aiming to build and expand local partnerships. The company also has a strong presence in the aftermarket, automotive, construction, retail and packaging industries.
According to the report, “all TMS solutions in this Magic Quadrant support core TMS capabilities of planning, execution and settlement across multiple for-hire modes of transportation including vendors in the Niche Players quadrant. Niche Players are often functionally satisfactory for many users, non-North-American shippers, smaller shippers, or companies with moderate transportation complexity or sophistication. Niche Players could well be the best choice for these types of users. However, these solutions lack the full depth, breadth or robustness of functionality demanded by the most complex and sophisticated TMS users; might have limited global presence; lack a persuasive vision for next-generation TMSs; or do not realistically support SCE convergence. These vendors might also lack the experience, number of clients, customer references or business viability of the leading vendors in the market. Yet, Niche Players are often viable or preferable for many TMS buyers.”
3T Logistics solves complex logistics challenges for companies with a freight spend of between $1.5 million and $100 million. Some of the companies that use the 3T TMS include JCB, Honda, Kuehne + Nagel, Klockner Pentaplast, Recticel and Aggreko. For more information about 3T Logistics, go to www.3t-europe.com.
