SALT LAKE CITY, UT / AGILITYPR.NEWS / April 04, 2023 / Dedicated to providing financial support to nursing students; aiming to improve educational
and health equity and improve the U.S. nursing shortage
April 4, 2023 - (Salt Lake City) – Based in Salt Lake City, Nightingale Foundation today announced the launch of its operations. As its mission statement indicates, Nightingale Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Nightingale College’s nursing students with the financial resources needed to attend and complete their academic programs. The Foundation is expected to begin offering its funding programs in early 2024.
“Creating the Nightingale Foundation is an exciting leap forward in increasing access for populations who need financial resources to complete their nursing programs,” said Nightingale Foundation’s Vice President, Jonathan Tanner. “The Foundation will be uniquely suited to address the needs of many underserved and underrepresented populations.”
Nightingale Foundation is dedicated to improving the nation’s health outcomes, health equity, and eliminating the nursing shortage by increasing access to pre- and post-licensure nursing education through providing financial resources for its student populations.
“With the nursing shortage at an all-time high, it is vital that barriers to accessing nursing education are removed,” noted Executive Director, Katy Shoemaker. “Nightingale Foundation will pave the way for traditionally underserved populations to attend college and complete their nursing degrees, ultimately increasing health equity in the communities they serve. We invite those who have an interest in and commitment to nursing and health equity to join the Foundation in fulfilling its mission to communities nationwide.”
Through its mission and vision, the Foundation not only strives to serve current and prospective nursing students by offering scholarships and alternative funding options to finance attendance in pre- and post-licensure academic programs, but also aims to assist in building a diverse nursing workforce across the United States. With a focus on removing barriers for equitable access to nursing education, especially for non-traditional students, the Foundation will support Nightingale College’s current and prospective nursing students in identifying, developing, and increasing access to pre and post graduate nursing education resources.
