UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / May 11, 2020 / A new survey by Organ(y)c - a range of certified 100% organic cotton feminine care, baby and beauty products - has determined that only 98% of women still do not refer to their vagina by its true name, preferring to use cute, funny or euphemistic nicknames.
Organ(y)c conducted the survey to support their theory that, despite living in the 21st century, and the word vagina being the correct biological term, many people regard female genitalia – and indeed feminine hygiene and periods – as taboo topics.
There were definite trends in the words women used to refer to their vaginas, with popular names like ‘front bum’ and ‘Foo foo’. Topping the list though, and used by one in 13 respondents, was ‘fanny’.
The top ten comprised:
The more unusual nicknames included:
While not intending to suggest in any way that slang words are wrong to use, Organ(y)c’s goal is to simply get girls and women of all ages talking confidently about their vaginas and menstrual cycle, and re-enforce that it’s nothing to be embarrassed about – quite the opposite, in fact.
“Your period is natural. It happens with no additives, nothing artificial and it’s not genetically modified. It is your own ecosystem working in harmony with nature,” explains Chloe Case, Brand Co-ordinator at Organ(y)c.
Chloe adds: “The survey was a fun way for us to engage with women across the country and get them chatting with their friends and family about their basic human anatomy at the same time as highlighting that something as amazing as the female body deserves respect - the whole ethos of our company.”
