OOIDA Recognized for Public Relations Efforts

GRAIN VALLEY, MO / AGILITYPR.NEWS / November 11, 2020 / Association presented with two Kansas City PRISM awards

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association received two awards from the Greater Kansas City chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The PRISM Awards are held annually to honor outstanding contributions to the public relations profession.

A gold PRISM was given to the Association for an entry about hours-of-service in the campaign category of public affairs. For its response to COVD-19, OOIDA received a silver award in the campaign category of crisis communications.

“We couple our advocacy efforts with media relations outreach on an ongoing basis,” said Norita Taylor, OOIDA director of public relations. “We see those challenging issues as opportunities and appreciate the recognition for the way we’ve worked together as a team.”

OOIDA has received several PRISM awards in past years for public relations efforts connected to Truckers for Troops, special media placements, cross-border trucking, speed limiters and special events. The Greater Kansas City PRSA is a community of public relations and communications professionals. Award winners are selected by an independent panel of judges from a separate chapter in another region within PRSA.

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is the largest national trade association representing the interests of small-business trucking professionals and professional truck drivers. The Association currently has more than 150,000 members nationwide. OOIDA was established in 1973 and is headquartered in the Greater Kansas City, Mo., area.
