Olympic swimmer Hannah Miley will share her inspirational stories on the importance of determination as part of Robert Gordon University’s Innovation Masterclass series designed to inspire students to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
The Innovation Masterclasses are an opportunity to hear from inspiring guest speakers who will share their stories and experiences from the world of entrepreneurship. Hannah Miley’s masterclass is free for anyone to attend and takes place on Thursday 17 October in RGU Sport.
From learning to swim in Aviemore to being Scottish Sports Person of the Year in 2010, Hannah will talk about motivation, passion and pushing yourself forward to achieve success.
Professor Gordon McConnell, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at RGU, said: “Hannah is a truly inspiring role model and her story is highly applicable to the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. People will gain valuable insight at this masterclass into what it takes to make dreams come true, whether that’s setting up your own business, completing a degree, or achieving career success.”
Hannah represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games on three occasions and won more than fifty medals from competitions all over the world, including gold at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Hannah graduated from RGU in 2013 with a Bachelor’s in Applied Sports and Exercise Science. During her time at university, she was an RGU: SPORT Scholar and benefitted from a tailor-made package of support which allowed her to combine her studies with the demands of training and competing against the best swimmers in the world.
These sessions are part of a suite of initiatives designed by RGU to promote entrepreneurship as a career choice in order to strengthen the economy through innovation and the diversification of products and services.
Future sessions of Innovation Masterclasses will include Fredrik Tusk, Director of Innovation at Maersk Drilling, and Judith Thorpe, Director of Thorpe Molloy. Judith will share her experience of being an established entrepreneur and breaking down barriers during Women’s Entrepreneurship Week.
You can register to attend an Innovation Masterclass on the Events pages of RGU’s website.
